On Intentional Invitations

(Message I shared with InterVarsity on Oct. 9th 2011)
Hey fam :) So I got convicted that we, as leaders tell people to do things that we don't do ourselves. So like the skit that was performed at Common Ground, lets not just tell our small groupies to go invite people in their halls while we're not doing anything ourselves. So I was thinking, that we should start applying what we are learning. Let's go out and invite people. This is the last day for people to register for Fall Con. I have a feeling and I know that Fall Con will be amazing so lets not be selfish and fearful. Lets ask God for boldness to talk to that roommate who is obsessed with school, invite that neighbor we've never talked to...

"Finally be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power." (Ephesians 6:10)
"It is for freedom that Christ set us free." (Galatians 5:1)

Some ideas you can borrow: I'm planning to go to FT with my area group to do follow ups and invite people to come for Fall Con. So I'm planning to make my own with the link on it. Also, I live in Santa Ynez and I haven't even met my neighbors so I'm going to awkwardly introduce myself and invite them for Fall Con. Another idea, you can meet up with people in your area or people who live near you, and go treasure-hunting-> do listening prayer, ask God to show you house numbers, whatever.... and then go together and look for those treasures.

God is with us! (Isaiah 45)
2 I will go before you
and will level the mountains;
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
3 I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the LORD,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name

God is going before us and He is gonna do all the heavy-duty work. THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL! (Luke 10:2) He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
The harvest in plentiful but we the workers are on facebook, playing video games and watching movies. Lets pray for God to fill us up and send us out!

"But I have homework." If you are like me, I was pretty unproductive yesterday (school-wise) so I have a lot to do today. I'm not going to tell you to make a sacrifice in the sense that "for God to use you you have to settle for a C,fail out of your major and get kicked out of school" That's a lie from the devil and that is not God's plan for you. The kind of sacrifice God wants us to make is different from the convention
al sacrifices.

Take Abraham for example, God told him to sacrifice his son, to KILL HIS SON!!! Do you think that was God's plan for Abraham? To be a murderer? For us we may think that God wants us to sacrifice our grades to please Him, to get Cs and Ds to do his work. But I'm telling you, that is NOT God's plan for us. Then what was God telling Abraham to do??? He was telling Him to trust Him, to trust that God's plan for Him is not to harm him but to prosper him. So Abraham did just that. He trusted Him. Then God provided a lamb to be sacrificed in place of Isaac. So what am I saying to us?

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)
Lets seek His Kindgom, His revival first and trust that He will provide what we need to prosper in all other ares of our lives.

Read Daniel 1. VS 17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. We serve the same mighty God that Daniel served. Let's trust Him. He is able!

"But Charlene this is kinda last minute."

(2 Corinthians 6:2)
For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."

This is urgent. This is the last day to register for Fall Con. I think we have till midnight so let's make some time today to something about that.

And pray! :)
